A gardening publication for people who want to understand their plants, not just follow instructions.
What we cover
GardenScoop publishes three kinds of content: growing guides that take a plant from sowing to harvest, garden care articles on the fundamentals that decide whether plants thrive, and agriculture reporting on the policy and market news that affects growers.
Gardening is our centre of gravity. The news section exists because what happens to fertiliser prices, crop programmes and livestock health shapes the wider growing world — but it sits in its own Agriculture News section rather than crowding out the guides.
Who we write for
Mostly home gardeners in the United States: first-time growers, homeowners with a plot to work out, and experienced gardeners looking for specifics. Because plants behave the same way everywhere, our guides are useful to English-speaking gardeners elsewhere too — we just note where advice is tied to a particular climate or hardiness zone.
How our guides are made
- We start from the question a gardener is actually asking, not a keyword.
- Advice is checked against horticultural references and extension service guidance.
- News stories link to primary sources — USDA, APHIS, EPA, university extension services — so you can read the original.
- Guides are revisited and updated when growing advice or official guidance changes.
- We explain the reasoning behind a recommendation so it transfers to your conditions.
Our full editorial policy explains how we research, source and update articles, and our corrections policy covers what happens when we get something wrong.
What we don't do
- We don't publish invented credentials, fake reviews or made-up statistics.
- We don't give prescriptive chemical or pesticide instructions — always follow the product label and your local regulations.
- We don't let commercial interests decide editorial coverage.
